Whether wrinkles are invading your forehead, eyes or the unlaughable lines near the lips and cheeks, turning to Botox has millions of men and women liking who they see in the mirror. Botox treatments tremendously improved the self-esteem of one Colorado woman. As a dental consultant, she says it helps her make good first impressions. Botox has one main ingredient—botulism a bacteria that kills when ingested. But the toxin is also commonly used as a short-term treatment to ease wrinkles.

  1. Want to undo your deep forehead lines? Brace--it can take up to 30 injections at the treatment site. Prepare for a few extra pokes and try not to get discouraged.
  2. Suspend certain OTCs and prescription drugs during treatments. Avoid cold or allergy medicine, muscle relaxers, bronchodilators, bladder or urinary medicines, and irritable bowel medicines. Discuss all medicines you are using with treatment provider.
  3. Side effects may include muscle weakness, bladder control problems, vision, breathing or swallowing problems. Report medical concerns immediately.
  4. Wrinkles fade in 3-5 days after a Botox treatment.
  5. After treatment, don’t lie down. Botox migrates to surrounding tissues and requires sitting upright for hours.
  6. Some people report Juvederm injections as more tolerable.
